PEACE SONGS

The songs that we chose to represent peace are:

  • Working Class Hero - Green Day

This video talks about people's problems in Darfour, in which families are divided and killed.
This is a documentary video, where people talk about the reasons that made them leave Darfour. One of the reasons of people leaving Darfour is that the rebels keep killing the families until there is no one left, they even kill the little children and old people.
  • Get Up Stand Up - Bob Marley

This song is talking about people in Vietnam who did not have their rights. During the Vietnam war the Vietnamese were persecuted and were not taking their civil rights, so Bob Marley started singing for them and telling them to "get up stand up" for their rights.
  • From Yesterday - 30 Seconds to Mars

  • Russians - Sting

Songs are something that connect people with each other and can create conversations with teenagers and elders alike. when the songs are about peace, some TV and radio stations give them extra attention to get them noticed by the people. A lot of people realize the real meaning of peace through these songs that are messages from the artists to the people.
"There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and that they grow up in peace."

Kofi Annan ( The previous Secretary General of the United Nations)

"I am Boutros Boutros Ghali, put down your guns and listen to Bob Marley."
